Okay, it's not exactly astrophotography, and it's more of a stretch than my rocket launches, but it's still cool and sky-related...
Since it was the 4th of July, I decided to try taking some fireworks pictures. I mainly wanted to try some focus pull shots, where I change the manual focus during a long exposure to make fireworks into sea anenomy shapes. I don't think my 600mm lens with its software defined focus lens can do it because it doesn't seem to let the focus actually change during an exposure - which I guess makes sense because I can't think of any other time when you'd want that. I got some good "normal" firework shots with the 600mm. And a couple of decent focus pull shots with my older 200mm. It turns out you shouldn't watch fireworks from the top of a hill unless you want landscape in the background. Fireworks don't go that high. I was taking these images on a cheap tripod and because I had to touch the camera to change focus, all of my focus pulls have some motion blur in them.
